ABOUT
MY STORY
As far back as I can remember I took my first picture with a plastic Diana Lomo camera, probably at the age of 5.
Since then I was always fascinated and attracted by photography in all its forms. I tired all sort of films and cameras, and I experimented all sorts of things with digital photography as soon as the first digital cameras arrived in Europe in the early 90's.
I am also an internationally awarded film director with more than 25 years of experience in the film industry. Graduated from the London International Film School, I managed to work also as director of photography and lighting cameraman. This opportunity raised enormously my technical skills as a still photographer.
In the recent years I studied colour grading for motion pictures and digital post-production techniques using Lightroom and Photoshop.
But why then black and white analogue film?
Because, due to its unique and complex creative process, it's what for me comes closest to pure art.
THE PROCESS
01. SHOOTING
The grane... the grane...

Today's choice of analogue b&w films is really incredible.

New emulsions are being developed and old historic ones reintroduced. In my large collection of film stock I can take my pick according to the look and style I want.

02. DEVELOPING
Chemistry is magic!

Developing my own films at home gives me the total freedom and control over the final result.

Using different "soups" and developing times, extends the creative process even further leaving a small margin to chance and magic.

03. SCANNING
From analogue to digital.

Scanning the negatives combines the quality and beauty of film with the endless possibilities and great fun of digital post-production.
All pictures present in this website are scanned from the original analogue negative.
